Founder of The Rooted Method & Rewild Festival
Cristina founded The Rooted Method in 2018 because she saw people missing the core ingredient of a thriving life- remembering their wild nature & primal design. With years of experience in teaching, facilitating and guiding in group settings, she integrated those skills to create her unique methodology of nature therapy, brain training, and social permaculture. Her signature offerings include the Rewild Festival, Gaia’s Compass, A brain training certification, and community events–with the intention to instill new learnings, grounded perspectives and excitement to live a less domesticated life.

Founders of Austin’s 3rd Eye Meditation Lounge, Ash & Neil, will facilitate a traditional cacao ceremony to open and close our weekend together.

JUNIPER MAGIC
Here in Central Texas, we are surrounded by Juniper. You may know her as Cedar and may not have the best relationship depending on the severity of your allergies, but our friend Juniper has been used by humans for her medicine and magic for thousands of years all over the globe. In this session presented by Sacred Journey School of Herbalism get to know and love this abundant native tree through a plant-sitting meditation and group share. You’ll also learn how to ethically wildcraft and create sacred smoke bundles.

Ginger Webb is a community herbalist, mother, permaculturist, and wild plant lover. Since 1999, her herbal medicine making business Texas Medicinals has supplied Central Texas with high quality tinctures, teas, salves, cordials, elixirs and syrups. She is the Founder, Director and Primary Instructor of Sacred Journey School of Herbalism, which offers a 200-hour herbalist training program, Kitchen Witchery, and seasonal community classes. Her intention is to help awaken and nurture each person’s innate love for the plants and the Earth, which had led her to train hundreds to become herbalists. She is an immutable ally for wild Texas plant medicines, and a pillar in the Central Texas herbalist community by providing education, herbal care for midwives and mothers, and community herb walks.
Local herbalist Lauren Peterson is a Juniper-lover, Sacred Journey School of Herbalism graduate, and owner of White Deer Apothecary. Lauren’s passion for plants grew from her desire to deepen her connection with the natural world and nurture relationships that allow healing to take place. Her favorite places to be are outdoors, in the kitchen, and on the dance floor.
BUILDING REGENERATIVE COMMUNITY WEALTH
Our panel of community leaders will discuss how to create regenerative wealth within a circular economy that focuses on people, planet & profit. They key factors of regenerative community wealth looks at how to create more circular economies of scale in our local businesses. Topics will include affordable food systems, supporting local farmers and business, and profit sharing models that contain exponential potential– showing just how far a dollar can go when invested in local community. Moderated by Cristina Schooler, our panelists will share models of how business relationships can go beyond transactions, and support us in a revillaging movement.

Herbalist & Permaculture Educator, Mutable Earth Botanicals
Whole Life Learning Center founder, educator and herbalist Caroline Riley, created Mutable Earth Botanicals in 2018 after 7 years of transforming a pasture into a forest garden full of food and medicinal plants. The gardens are a living classroom and the heart of our community. She comes from the Vitalist tradition of herbalism having studied Clinical Herbalism, Alchemical Herbalism and Astro Herbalism with Sajah Popham and The School of Evolutionary Herbalism. She has both studied and taught with Ginger Webb and Sacred Journey School of Herbalism.

Holistic Chef, Wellness Entrepreneur & Founder of Curcuma Kitchen
Rachel Musquiz is a holistic chef, trained herbalist, and wellness entrepreneur. She applies the concept that food is medicine in all her endeavors including Curcuma Kitchen, which started as an Ayurvedic food truck and expanded into a line of superfood & spice blends. Rachel empowers her clients to learn to be their own healers through food choices and offers private chef services, meal prep, post-partum support & retreat catering. When she’s not in the kitchen, she enjoys wildcrafting medicine, road trips, outdoor climbing, and cooking up feasts in the backcountry.
EDIBLE PLANT WALK & PERMACULTURE FARM TOUR
Lotus Ranch encompasses 40 enchanting acres in the heart of Texas Hill Country. It’s been a family endeavor to turn this land into a permaculture farm and retreat space. Our hosts Ashley & Mark will give tour of the garden and how they utilize regenerative permaculture design principles throughout the property. Along the way, you’ll get to know the edible plants that grow wild on the land.

Ashley Stephens and Mark Turner operate Lotus Ranch Retreat Center as a family business and permaculture homestead. Both Ashley and Mark are certified as Permaculture Designers, and Ashley as a certified Permaculture Instructor. Together they run The Children's Outdoor Classroom, a nature school Ashley first started to enrich her son's homeschool experience, and has since become a staple for many families in the greater Austin community. They share a passion for regenerative agriculture, sustainable business, and really good local food.

This session reframes a definition for energetic wealth (beyond the pursuit of money), and how observing patterns in Nature can deepen intentional, regenerative, inter-dependent and sustainable growth for communities and ourselves.

Urban Garden Educator, Founder AO Daily Ritual
Alicia Ortiz is a Self-Study + Shadow Transformation Coach, teaching root-cause, self-healing. When she learned the ways our nervous system is inherently programmed to seek safety through co-regulation, she rediscovered a universal truth: the heart of love is rooted in conscious connection. Alicia is a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Coach, trained in Eriksonian Hypnosis, Timeline Therapy, and transformational grammar. With yoga & permaculture ethics in mind, she is armed with over 400 hours of certified study in yoga, meditation, trauma, and racial consciousness. Alicia has been a core part of Rooted Method and has co-facilitated Rooted Method’s Gaia’s Compass program for 2.5 years.

Raised in the beautiful country of Venezuela, Wladimir Montoya learned the value of family and community at a very early age. He’s made it his life’s purpose to bring people together & create spaces that foster connection. He has created community throughout his health & wellness coaching career through modalities like CrossFit, Olympic weightlifting, nutrition, rowing, and romantic relationships. Wladimir teaches movement by leading with the heart, sharing in life experiences & sweat, so that we become an overflow of love among those we come in contact with.
